After reading Frederica I thanked my lucky stars that Georgette Heyer was such a prolific writer and that she lived a long life. You see, I never was in love, so I don’t know. His transformation from confirmed, self-absorbed bachelor to dedicated family man is so gradual that he is completely unaware that it is happening. There are the usual obstacles and a near tragedy that brings our lovers closer together, but rest assured that it will all come ’round in the end.
And though I I’m doing a lifetime reading challenge, and I chose this book for my book because it was also on a number of “best ever romance novels” lists. Alverstoke is aristocratic bored jaded man, and his change it adorable as he not only falls slowly in love with Frederica but starts to truly care for her younger brothers breaking him out out his lifetime boredom.
