It reads like a travelogue, and, since I want to go to Spain, I enjoyed hearing about it.

The style is extremely readable, the photographs by Robert Vavra, outstanding, the maps satisfying. He throws in Spanish history. It makes one want to visit Spain if not already done so, or revisit if one has already had the pleasure. He comments, accurately I think, micbener the great mistake of the Republicans in the Civil War was their failure to realize the inseparability of Spain from its Catholicism.
Ratings and Reviews 0 1 star ratings 0 reviews. It made the visit richer and more meaningful. The travel book si Iberia is a massive tomb. Michener is also very digression-prone, so he will often pause to iames you some bit of history that interests him.

I really liked the discussion of bull fighting, but these days the animal welfare issues would hang as a heavy shadow over the discussion. It seems he had a lot of the history, geography, and culture to write a novel.
However I travelled mostly in blind awe. I thought this book all would be was Michener’s travel through Spain, but no its more than half about the history, which is really boring to me, especially the way iberoa was written into his travel by selection, so I could not get into the book.

I began the book because I was traveling to Spain. But the book suffers from several faults. I loved this intimate read. Spanish Travels and Reflections. And following his wife’s insistence, he declares La Rambla in Barcelona “probably the best promenade I have ever seen. Can I gripe some more about this honored traveller, writer and student of history? Refresh and try again.
If I ever plan a trip to Spain I certainly michfner to check out Michener’s thoughts on the cities we would visit, for two prime reasons.
